"Fat absorbing. Preventive obesity agent montmorillonite adsorbs dietary lipids and enhances lipid excretion from the digestive tract. Western diets are typically high in fat and are associated with long-term complications such as obesity and hepatic steatosis. Because of the enjoyable taste of high-fat diets (HFDs), we are interested in determining how to decrease lipid absorption and enhance lipid excretion from the digestive tract after the consumption of eating fatty foods. Montmorillonite was initially characterized as a gastrointestinal mucosal barrier protective agent for the treatment of diarrhoea. Dietary lipid adsorbent- montmorillonite (DLA-M) was isolated and purified from Xinjiang montmorillonite clay via the water extraction method. Here, we show that DLA-M has an unexpected role in preventing obesity, hyperlipidaemia and hepatic steatosis in HFD-fed rats. Interestingly, combined application of polarized light microscopy and lipid staining analyses, showed that DLA-M crystals have dietary lipid-adsorbing ability in vitro and in vivo, which enhances lipid excretion via bowel movements. In summary, our results indicate that DLA-M prevent HFD-induced obesity. This novel dietary lipid-adsorbing agent can help prevent obesity and its comorbidities." - L., Amazon review

Staph Infection

"I recently had a staph infection on my instep (not MRSA per MD) which manifested with four red dots in a 1/4" square. Tried my usual essential oils but did not solve the problem. As it appeared to worsen and to ensure that it was not MRSA I went to walk-in clinic. MD verified that it was not MRSA and prescribed an antibiotic.

While taking the antibiotics the infection did not worsen but it did not go away completely. Concerned because I was due to take a trip I returned to the walk-in clinic. I also, since reading the booklet and knowing that negate vs charges increase to an area of injury to heal, decided to try this on my swollen pinky, which is developing painful arthritis. I soaked my hand in hot water, used not purified water to make a wet paste, soaked gauze and wrapped my knuckle in plastic over the gauze to keep it moist, wrapped a heating pad around my hand. Dental Use

"I'm a heavy smoker and sooo want to quit. I'll start there. I was using Claybrite toothpaste, which contains this type of clay and made the observation that my teeth were noticeably whiter and that brand of toothpaste was quite soothing to my gums, providing that 'dentist clean' feeling. It is quite pricey though, so I alternated it with Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil and Neem Toothpaste, which I also like. Claybrite recently changed the formula dramatically though, adding chemicals, removing and/or sliding the concentration of natural ingredients further down on the list. My gums no longer felt soothed. I could no longer brush my tongue without gagging. The whitening benefit was no longer as pronounced. So I decided to buy a pouch of this clay, the same type used in their formula. I put the clay in a wide (but small) glass jar with a tiny scooper. I believe it was an apple butter jar, and the scoop I'm using holds probably about 1/4 teaspoon. I found the best way to use this was to take a scoop of it and drop a scoop into my mouth without touching the scooper to my mouth. Otherwise, if placed directly on top of my toothbrush with the Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil and Neem toothpaste, most of the clay would just fall off of the brush and into the sink. It made no difference whether I just placed the clay on my wet toothbrush or the clay on top of the wet toothpaste on my brush. It is a real pain because the clay drop-off doesn't rinse off the sink with just a few splashes of water. So use this scoop-to-mouth method if you decide to try this. Less waste. "I've been slowly taking my alkalizing strategies from one phase to the next. When I read about the benefits of dry bentonite clay for external and internal use I thought, why not?
